Looking towards the future For the past two years, West Valley College and Mission College have been conducting extensive market research and community outreach to update its master plan and vision for the future of education in our community. The colleges are in the process of re-examining its image in the community and rebuilding its brand identity in order to present an image that is relevant to today's audiences. In addition to the community and faculty's input, it is important that we get the student's imput, ideas and impressions. The Brain Dive Challenge is a first step in opening up the process for student input.
What is a "Brain Dive"? The Brain Dive Challenge is an opportunity for the students of West Valley College and Mission College to express their ideas about the image and brand of the colleges. Rather than a formal survey, the Brain Dive Challenge will be a fun, interactive half day event where teams of students will work together to generate ideas, similar to a "real world" ad agency where abundance of ideas are a must under a strict timeframe. Think "debate club" meets "The Apprentice". Individuals will be "teamed" with others to compete for the best and most creative ideas that best represents the college experience at West Valley and Mission College. Each team will be involved in various aspects of the creative process to generate ideas, and then present the ideas. A panel of judges from the community will choose the best of the best in a final showdown. Each member of the winning team will win a Flip Video Camcorder and the opportunity to work with the college branding team to create video shorts that will be shown online to promote the colleges.
